Lowrance GPS Waypoint Installation Instructions

Lowrance LCX-111C HD GPS Chartplotter - Sounder

There Are 2 Methods for Loading Angler Products Fishing Hotspots to your Lowrance / Eagle GPS

Loading Angler Products Fishing Hotspots to your Lowrance GPS is easy. Here’s how you do it. I’m using the LCX-111C HD of GPS Receivers but they all work pretty much the same. If you have problems with yours please don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance.

Note: It’s important that you tell us when you order Angler Products Fishing Hotspots what type of GPS you’re using. A Lowrance takes a different file format that a Garmin or a Magellan does.

First Method of Installing Angler Products Fishing Hotspots

The Lowrance unit has a SD/MMC card slot for loading preprogrammed charts and also for transferring trip information between your PC and your GPS. When we send you the Angler Products Fishing Hotspots file you will load it to a blank SD/MMC card on your PC.

(Note: If you don’t currently have a SD/MMC card reader / writer you can get one at your local electronics store for between $15 and $20 and they plug into your USB port or your PCMCIA slot. Blank SD/MMC cards are also available at these outlets for very reasonable prices. I use Fry’s or Best Buy around here, but they are available most anywhere they sell electronics, computers or cameras.)

There are utilities built into the LCX-111C HD to assist you in using an optional Secure Digital memory card.

GPS data files contain waypoints, routes, tracks and event marker icons. GPS data automatically saved to your units internal memory must be saved to an SD/MMC card as a GPS data file to be transferred and stored on your personal computer. GPS data files stored on your SD/MMC card must be copied to your unit’s internal memory before they can be read and used on your GPS. Here’s how:

Insert the SD/MMC card into your unit. Press Menu – Menu – System – Setup – Enter - Down Arrow to Transfer My Data – Enter and choose Load the load the data from the SD/MMC to the units memory. If you select Save it then save the data from your unit to the SD/MMC. Data files for Lowrance units are in the .ucr format.

Second Method of Installing Angler Products Fishing Hotspots

  •     Go to www.EasyGPS.com and download and install their free software, EasyGPS

  •     Connect your Lowrance to your computer with the cable that came with your unit

  •     In EasyGPS go to Edit – Preferences – and Add your GPS

  •     Open the attached file with EasyGPS

  •     Click on the Send icon in EasyGPS to send the hotspots to your unit.

That’s all there is to it.

 Tight lines!!
